The Institute for Priestly Formation has sponsored numerous symposia, each one having one of the priestly identities as its theme. He also serves as Director of the Diaconate Office for the Archdiocese of Omaha. He has authored or edited 15 books and numerous articles in the field of moral and spiritual theology.
